By accepting service from VM Service Tech, you agree to the warranty conditions outlined in this policy. Nothing in this policy limits any rights to which you are entitled as a consumer under applicable Quebec or federal law.
All repairs performed by VM Service Tech are covered by a minimum 90-day warranty on both parts and labor. In addition, parts installed by VM Service Tech may carry a manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty of up to 1 year depending on the part type, as described in Section 1.3.
VM Service Tech warrants all labor performed for a period of 90 days from the date of service, effective from the date recorded on the service invoice, consistent with the minimum repair warranty prescribed under the Consumer Protection Act, CQLR c P-40.1 (Quebec). This labor warranty applies regardless of part type and covers deficiencies in workmanship directly attributable to the service performed.
Parts installed by VM Service Tech carry the warranty provided by the original manufacturer or supplier. VM Service Tech does not independently warrant parts beyond the manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty terms but will facilitate warranty claims on behalf of the client where a part fails within the applicable warranty period.
Warranty periods vary by part type and manufacturer. As a general reference:
Complex assemblies and major components — including motors, compressors, control boards, and other major mechanical or electronic parts — typically carry a manufacturer’s warranty of up to 12 months from the date of installation, subject to the specific manufacturer’s or supplier’s terms.
Standard or commonly replaced parts — including belts, thermostats, door latches, door boot seals, dryer heating elements, and range radiant heating elements — typically carry a manufacturer’s warranty of 90 days from the date of installation, subject to the specific manufacturer’s or supplier’s terms.
The applicable warranty period for any specific part will be communicated to the client at the time of service. Where the manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty period differs from the general reference periods above, the manufacturer’s or supplier’s terms shall prevail.
VM Service Tech is not responsible for warranty claims denied by the manufacturer or supplier on grounds outside VM Service Tech’s control, including but not limited to misuse, unauthorized modifications, or expiry of the manufacturer’s warranty period.
VM Service Tech uses electronic payment methods. Clients receive electronic copies of invoices and payment receipts, which serve as proof of service and are the primary reference for warranty claims. The Company verifies job information and service dates through its field management system.
Parts replaced under warranty do not carry an additional warranty. All subsequent replacement parts will have the same warranty expiration date as the originally replaced part.
The warranty described in this policy applies to repair work performed by VM Service Tech technicians and is subject to the conditions set out in this Section.
The warranty does not cover any issues arising from misuse, neglect, unauthorized modifications, or accidental damage caused directly or indirectly by the client.
The warranty will not apply where foreign objects have entered the pump, motors, or any other mechanical component. The warranty does not cover clogs of any kind.
The warranty is void if repairs or modifications are attempted by anyone other than service technicians authorized by VM Service Tech following the completion of the original service.
If a client reports a problem during the warranty period and the technician determines during a follow-up visit that the issue is unrelated to the original repair, a standard service call fee will apply. The applicable rate will be communicated to the client before the follow-up visit is scheduled. The warranty covers only issues directly linked to the previous service.
The full warranty terms set out in Section 1 apply to appliances installed and used in a standard single-family residential household setting, consistent with the appliance manufacturer’s intended use.
Where services are performed at a residential dwelling owned by a property management company or private landlord, and the appliance is installed in a unit occupied or intended for occupation by a residential tenant, the full warranty terms set out in Section 1 apply. VM Service Tech recognizes that the end use of the appliance in such settings is equivalent to standard residential household use, regardless of the ownership structure of the property.
Property management companies and landlords are encouraged to retain a copy of the service invoice as proof of warranty for the duration of the applicable warranty period.
Where a domestic appliance is installed or used in a commercial or non-residential environment — including but not limited to barbershops, grooming salons, laundromats, offices, restaurants, or any setting where the appliance is subjected to a frequency or intensity of use exceeding normal single-family household conditions — the following limited warranty terms apply:
Labor warranty: 30 days from the date of service
Parts warranty: 30 days from the date of service for standard parts; 90 days for major mechanical or electronic assemblies
This limitation reflects the significantly accelerated wear and increased failure risk associated with commercial-intensity usage of appliances designed for domestic household use. VM Service Tech will assess the usage environment at the time of service and will inform the client of the applicable warranty terms before commencing work.
Where applicable consumer protection legislation provides greater warranty rights to the client, those rights are not affected by this limitation.
This warranty does not cover replacement parts or repair labor where the appliance is not used in a normal single-family household setting or is used in a manner not described in the manufacturer’s user manual, except as provided in Sections 3.2 and 3.3.
This warranty does not cover consumable parts such as air filters, water filters, and light bulbs, or non-functional and cosmetic parts including trims, glass cooktops, knobs, oven door glass, panels, tanks, racks, tubs, baskets, doors, door liners, shelves, and structural parts, or parts damaged by abnormal usage.
This warranty does not cover service calls to correct installation issues unrelated to VM Service Tech’s work, to instruct on appliance use, or to replace water filters, air filters, or light bulbs.
This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accident, alteration, abuse, misuse, flood, fire, improper installation, installations that do not comply with plumbing or electrical codes, or the use of chemicals not approved by the manufacturer.
Cosmetic damage — including dents, scratches, chips, or other damage to the appliance finish — is not covered. Mechanical operations during service may result in minor wear and tear such as cracks, dents, and scratches, which may be unavoidable due to the age, corrosion, or material quality of the appliance.
The technician will inform the client of this possibility at the time of service. Client acceptance of service constitutes acknowledgment of this condition and such wear is not claimable under this warranty.
This warranty does not cover damage to parts resulting from unauthorized modifications made to the appliance or its installation following completion of VM Service Tech’s work.
VM Service Tech’s obligation under this warranty expires if the part installed and under warranty is confirmed as no longer available from the original manufacturer or supplier. This limitation does not affect any statutory rights available to consumers under applicable Quebec law.
Where a part installed under warranty is confirmed as no longer available, the technician shall notify the client promptly. VM Service Tech will work with the client to identify alternative solutions where possible.
The client’s primary remedy under this limited warranty shall be repair or replacement of the defective part or correction of the deficient workmanship as provided in this policy. Nothing in this clause limits any statutory remedies available to consumers under applicable Quebec law.
VM Service Tech assumes no liability for incidental losses — including food loss, torn, stained, or burned clothing, or cosmetic damage to furniture, moldings, or flooring — occurring while servicing or moving the appliance, except where such damage is directly caused by the gross fault or intentional misconduct of the service technician. Nothing in this clause limits any rights available to consumers under applicable Quebec law.
Where a balance remains unpaid after 30 days, VM Service Tech reserves the right to pursue collection through appropriate legal channels. Outstanding balances do not affect warranty rights to which a consumer is entitled under applicable Quebec law.
If a client has failed to follow the manufacturer’s instructions or has misused the appliance, the warranty does not cover issues arising from that failure or misuse. In such cases, the client may be responsible for the full cost of any additional repair required.
Work performed on the appliance by the client or another service company following VM Service Tech’s service will void the warranty only with respect to the specific components affected by that subsequent work. VM Service Tech’s warranty remains in effect for all other components and workmanship unaffected by the third-party repair or modification.
In the event of dryer repair, the technician will assess the adequacy of the ventilation system and inform the client of any concerns at the conclusion of the service. If the dryer ventilation system becomes obstructed during the warranty period, the warranty becomes void with respect to damage caused by that obstruction, as such damage results from external factors rather than the parts replaced or work performed. The client is responsible for ensuring their ventilation system is maintained and cleaned by a qualified professional.
This warranty does not cover parts supplied by the client. Any issues arising from the use of customer-supplied parts are not eligible for repair or replacement under this policy.
VM Service Tech provides warranty coverage only for parts sourced through its trusted suppliers and distribution network. This ensures that parts meet quality standards and are backed by the manufacturer’s or supplier’s warranty.
No warranty is offered on maintenance or cleaning work, as the outcome of such services depends on factors outside VM Service Tech’s control, including subsequent appliance use and maintenance by the client. This does not affect any statutory rights available to consumers under applicable Quebec law.
