Electric Downdraft Cooktop Installation

A black stove top with downdraft ventilation

A key feature of these cooktops is the integrated downdraft ventilation system, which eliminates the need for a traditional range hood by pulling smoke, steam, and odors down through a vent directly from the cooktop. Our skilled technicians ensure that this ventilation system is installed with precision, guaranteeing optimal performance.

What’s included in Downdraft Cooktop Installation?

When you choose VM Service Tech for your downdraft cooktop installation, we make the process easy and stress-free. From the moment we arrive, our goal is to ensure everything is set up perfectly for your new cooktop.

We start by checking your kitchen’s existing electrical connections and ventilation setup to make sure everything is compatible with your new appliance. If the countertop cutout is ready, we’ll carefully install the cooktop, making sure it sits securely and evenly.

The real magic of a downdraft cooktop is in its ventilation, and we pay special attention to that. We expertly connect the downdraft system, routing it through the floor, wall, or cabinetry as needed, to ensure it effectively pulls away smoke, steam, and odors. Once everything is in place, we test both the cooktop and the downdraft system to make sure they’re working flawlessly.

Finally, we do a thorough inspection to make sure you’re happy with the installation.

What’s not included in Downdraft Cooktop Installation?

At VM Service Tech, our downdraft cooktop installation service covers all the key aspects to get your new appliance up and running smoothly. However, there are a few things that aren’t included. If your countertop needs resizing or adjustments to fit the new cooktop, that’s something you’ll need to arrange before we arrive, as we don’t handle countertop modifications.

We connect the downdraft system to your existing ventilation setup, but if your kitchen requires new ductwork or significant changes to the vent path, those would need to be addressed by a specialist. While we ensure your cooktop is properly connected to your current electrical system, any necessary upgrades to your electrical panel or rewiring are not part of our service, and may require the expertise of an electrician.

However, we do take care of removing of your old cooktop, so you won’t have to worry about that.

Parts and accessories needed to complete the job will be added to the bill.

Electric and Induction Cooktop Installation FAQs

  • Electric Cooktop: Uses electric coils or a smooth glass-ceramic surface with heating elements underneath. It heats the cooktop surface, which then heats the cookware.
  • Induction Cooktop: Uses electromagnetic fields to directly heat the cookware. The cooktop surface remains cooler compared to electric cooktops, making it more energy-efficient and safer.

Both electric and induction cooktops typically require a 240V outlet. The circuit breaker should be appropriately rated, usually between 30 to 50 amps, depending on the cooktop’s specifications.

The installation typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity of the job and whether any additional electrical work is needed.

If the cooktop doesn’t fit the existing cutout, you may need to hire a professional countertop service to resize the cutout. VM Service Tech does not offer resizing services, so it’s important to ensure the new cooktop matches your current cutout size before installation.

Contact our customer service team immediately. We will troubleshoot the issue over the phone or send a technician to inspect and resolve the problem.
